Description:

Sabbat Martyr DeathMatch was my first foray into project managing and major map design. I had made 2 or 3 standalone releases before starting this project, and I had very little working knowledge of wad management and fairly mediocre mapping skills. However, it does seem that I had potential of some sort. From what I can gather, I started the project in July of 2006. Initially it was just going to be a small compilation of my own maps that I was making in my spare time. However I decided to turn it into a community effort. The project’s development life went into the 97b release of Skulltag, and with it there were many new features that I decided to make use of; the biggest being new weapons. The project ended up being a massive collection of deathmatch maps from various members of the Skulltag community; 42 in total. There are many new graphics, new skins and sounds, a gib system, new bots, a brand-new campaign, and 2 brand-new weapons. There seemed to be much hype for this wad and it seemed to be able to live up to that hype. To this day, many people are aware of SMDM’s existence, which tickles me in so many ways.

Over a year ago, there was an attempt to update Sabbat Martyr to version 1.2. Hidon (aka. StrikerMan780) spearheaded the effort. However all of his work was lost in a hard drive crash, and the update project was grinded to halt. Skulltag has been updated many times since the version 1.1 released, and there are many optimizations and bug fixes that need to be made for version 1.2. I have compiled a small list of things to do, however I require help from the playing community to help spot all of the bugs. If you are a fan of SMDM, I could really use your help. Send any bug reports or optimization ideas to me and I’ll add them to my list. Free time is unfortunately a factor on when any of the work will be done, but I do hope to get to it sometime soon.

The current /idgames link is out of date. For the time being, I have version 1.1 hosted on my webspace.
