About Me

My name is Brett Harrell, I’m 23 years old, and I live Pembroke, Virginia. I use the moniker “Mechadon” or “Mekaddonn” when online. I am slowly working on my Game Design degree at the New River Community College and I hope to also work towards an Architecture degree in the future. My interests involve playing games, architecture, listening to music of the ambient/idm/electronic genres (and maybe eventually composing music), working with graphics, and game design. To be more specific on that last bit, I like to spend my free time making maps and levels for various games, the biggest being Doom. I have been mapping for roughly ten years, give or take a year. My free time has been dominated by various Doom projects, almost all related directly to mapping. I hope to be expanding my horizons in my game design and mapping interests soon.

My dream is to make video games and map for a living. I find creating new spaces and structures to be very interesting. I first became interested in game design, mapping especially, around the latter part of the 90s while playing games like Unreal Tournament, Quake, and Doom. I attempted to create maps for Unreal Tournament at the time, but I was unable to get UnrealEd working on my computer. I soon discovered Doom Builder and I toyed around with it for a few years. After teaching myself how to create simple rooms and structures, I started mapping off and on in my spare time. Around the early part of 2006, I discovered Skulltag, a multiplayer-oriented source port of Doom. I quickly found myself very interested in making deathmatch maps for this port, and the rest is history!

Contact Info

Email is probably the quickest way to contact me. I also have some social networking memberships where you can contact me. You can also make a post on my blog here and it will very likely get my attention. If all else fails, try contacting me at Doomworld, Skulltag.net, or ZDoom. I often frequent the forums on those sites.
