I hope everyone had a fun and safe Thanksgiving! To add to all the delicious mountains of turkey I gobbled down today, Greenwar II was finally released! It took about 7 years total of work and lots and lots of mapping on my end (more than I was planning on doing :p ) but it finally got finished. It was a lot of hard work and everyone did an excellent job, so we’re all glad to see if released. This was definitely a pretty cool Thanksgiving
For the time being, I’m hosting Greenwar II on my webspace until the /idgames link is put up. Once the /idgames is up, I’ll replace the link with it. Grab it below!
Download Greenwar II from /idgames!

I’ll get some screenshots up tomorrow. And, eventually, I’ll update the Design Page with it :p
[EDIT]
Sorry, I was too lazy to take my own screenshots. So, until I get the Design page updated, I’m going to steal essel’s shots :p

Lordy, I can’t believe it! Mekworx has actually survived a whole year. Ok yea, the first post is marked for October 30th, but the site was actually created on the 29th. I’ve had other personal sites in the past for silly things that I either never updated or were destroyed before I could actually do anything with it. This is the first time that I’ve been able to keep and [somewhat] maintain a personal site for any length of time. I know there aren’t many of you out there that bother strolling towards this small, boring webhole, but I still think this is an event worth celebrating
Up to this point, Mekworx’s has mostly served as a web log for my extremely mind-numbing going-ons that I feel pertinent to share with all 3 of you that visit here. And indeed, that was one part of why I wanted a personal website. The other main reason was to have a place to showcase all of my creative works…sort of a portfolio. But the Design page hasn’t seen much love…and the Info page is just plain pathetic. It just takes so damn long to update that crap (seeing as how I have a lot of crap
). But I have been planning on doing a major overhaul to the Design page for a while now. When will it come? Whenever I can get a day or two just to myself (in other words, I don’t know). I want to come up with a better way to organize everything. And I also want to layout a better template for these sorts of pages. If all goes well, Doom won’t be the only game that I’ll be making content for in the future, so I want a more general organization and template. There’s also the issue of updating the Selenite theme (the current theme) to fix various visual bugs. I’m probably gonna have to outsource to fix some of them
. I do plan on doing this sometime though. Preferably sooner rather than later. Once I can get some organizational groundwork laid, it will take a lot of work of me in the long run. So, that’s my plan for the future of Mekworx right now!
So if your reading this, give a quick Happy Birthday shoutout for Mekworx! I gotta give many thanks to my man Wartorn for providing a more permanent home for Mekworx. Without him, it’s very possible that Mekworx wouldn’t be around today to see this birthday. Thanks alot bud, I truly appreciate it
And I also want to thank all of you who have taken some time to drop by and browse/read all of my crap. I know my ramblings lack any sort of depth or entertainment value and I apologize for that. I doubt that it any of it will get any better in the foreseeable future. But maybe…just maybe…I’ll be able to make it slightly more bearable
Oh and as a bonus, here’s an extremely old Armored Core site of mine that happens to still be kicking: Cannon Works Inc.. Cannon Works Inc. was the name of my design garage. It came from my design fetish with the Grenade Launcher weapons. Wow, that crap is old

I don’t know if anyone has noticed, but the site has been jumbled up a bit for the past couple days. If you recall reading this post I wrote a few days ago, I was going to try and widen up the theme. Well the code generated from the WordPress Theme Generator is really messy and hard to understand; I was lucky to figure out as much of it as I did when I worked on the Vega DevBlog and when I updated the current Mekworx theme. I tried a bunch of things but the css file is just setup really weird…or I’m just too dumb
Well actually, I did a bit of cram learning Thursday from this lovely guide I found on the interhole. Most of the time when I want to quickly edit something that I have very little to no working knowledge of, I rely on trial and error. That’s what I did for this theme and for the theme that the Vega DevBlog uses. However, after working through this awesome guide, I have a bit more knowledge of how some of this stuff works; php, css, and wordpress themes in general. If your interested in this stuff, then I highly recommend you take a few hours to check that wonderfully written guide out.
So far I have a from-scratch skeleton WordPress theme done…as in I finished up writing up all of the php code (I can’t believe I just typed that…). The thing that remains is the thing that happens to be the bulk of the work though. I’ve still got to style the layout. So basically I have got to polish up my css and make some graphics. I’ve tried a few things here and there but so far I haven’t figured out the look yet (not to mention it’s a tad frustrating at times). The ideas I’ve attempted but failed at so far include a cobalt/burnt orange theme, a blue/gray theme, and a mostly dark blue theme (like this one). But I’ve got a couple more ideas for a simple and clean look that will, hopefully, reflect my tastes and also make me happy. Atleast at this point, though, I’ve got it at the width I wanted from the very beginning
So if all goes well (and if I can try to find a bit more free time) I should have a small surprise for the site in the coming days. And then maybe I can try and get that blasted design page reorganized and updated sometime soon

The reading on my depress-o-meter has been knocked down a few notches. For the past few weeks I’ve been struggling with computer demons that have kept me from working on Project Vega. If you haven’t been in the loop, Carn is taking the work-in-progress game to show off at QuakeCon this year. We were working on a 3-map demo to help show off the game so far, but problems have been abounding. For numerous reasons, the project has had all sorts of trouble keeping mappers. WastedYouth, whom I dearly hoped would stick with the project till the end, got too close to a Wal-Mart employment opportunity kiosk and was never heard from again. Agent Spork is too busy being Agent Spork. And of course, with my sort of luck these days, I was barred from mapping because of a BSOD error with the map editor. In short, Carn is pretty much doing the lion’s share of the work
I was lead to believe that the BSOD error I kept getting was hardware related, and so I have been “negotiating” with the Alienware tech support to try and figure out the problem. Well long story short the “tech support” is full of crap. Atleast I was able to get my wireless card fixed in all that mess though.
So where’s the good news, you ask? Well it turns out that the errors and BSODs I kept getting weren’t hardware related at all. Actually it’s really hard for me to say what the exact problem was, but it apparently had something to do with Windows Update and how retarded it can be. I wouldn’t have expected this outcome since I had the editor [sorta] working on a WinXP installation on my 12-year-old desktop machine. Carn had sent me some email messages while I was stuck in bed with some nasty bug, so I was sorta late to this discovery. He ran into the BSOD and errors with the editor in the exact same way that I had been. So he was apparently able to fix the problem and then oh hey looky at this:

Ahahahahaha FUCK YOU MICROSOFT. BTW leaked screenshot omg.
One problem at this juncture, though, is that QuakeCon is literally only a days away. Yea. I’ve still got to talk to Carn about what he plans to do since time is going to be at a premium for this demo. We’ll see what happens. All I know is that I’m ecstatic that this problem is finally behind me. Now the only thing I gotta figure out is if I want to keep using this installation of Windows Vista…
