Indecisive is a word that describes Mek

Ok, so for all three of you who read this…you may notice that the site looks a little, erm…different. I hate to make blog posts so close together but…apparently there’s no way for me to have more than one blog in Wordpress (that I know of) so I can have a ‘Site Updates’ blog. Whatever…

The reason for the change is because I found this neat little site called Wordpress Theme Generator. It’s a theme generator built into the website, which is pretty cool. I was surprised at how powerful it actually was; you can import some of your own graphics and everything. So I played with it for a few hours and I finally crapped out the theme your looking at now. I like it :D

However, there is a chance that it will be changed again in the near future. This is why. If I’m able to make something a little nicer on the eyes then you’ll see me replacing the theme once again. Hopefully for the last time :]

I’ve also done a little house cleaning and tweaking around the site. If you’ll notice, all of my links are now in a handy, less-cluttered drop-down box thanks to this handy widget I found while googling. I also removed the random screenshot widget because it was annoying to have to reload a new image every time you navigated somewhere around the site (and also the pictures were just taking up some of my precious web space as well). The Design page has also been ever so slightly updated. And I think that’s about it!

Oh wait, no it isn’t! I got rid of the default Wordpress smilies and added some of the Something Awful ones:
:haw: :fag: :hydro: :hurr: :mystery:  :solved:

Heh XD

Mekaghost

December 29th, 2008 by Mechadon

About 4 months ago I started having problems with my wireless. Basically, whenever I would enable the wireless connection, the computer would skip around in a very serious manner. You can move your mouse around for about 5 seconds and then it would freeze up completely for about 3 seconds…really weird stuff. Nothing I did fixed the problem for long and I couldn’t find a solution anywhere on the internet. I figured it had something to do with the hardware, so I called up Alienware (uh yea, I’ve got an Alienware…forgot to mention that) and talked with one of their people. Long story short they didn’t tell me anything I hadn’t already tried, so I just sorta gave up on it. Thankfully I don’t use my wireless that often so it wasn’t that big of a deal, but it did bug me that I couldn’t use it if I wanted to.

Yesterday, something got my attention while I was working. For whatever reason, icons for various files and applications where being replaced by the generic looking windows icon…like Windows lost the icons or something. This made alarms go off in my head and it looked like I there might be registry errors or something. I thought that thankfully I have Spybot S&D running when I first got my computer a year go, and it always makes a registry backup when you first run it. So I reboot Windows into safe mode and revert back to the backed-up registry. The problem is fixed…or so I thought. After a few minutes it started happening again, so now I’m thinking I may have a virus. I reboot and everything is fine for a while…but then icons start disappearing again. Thank god I bought that external hard drive when it was on sale…

I make back-ups of all of my up-do-date work and files and whatnot, log everything I need to redownload and install, and then I break out my never-used Alien Respawn disc (which is basically Norton Ghost). Boy is this thing nice; it’s a DVD image of the hard drive as it was when they first send you your computer. Basically I was reverting back to the factory configuration. Everything went smoothly and I’ve got most of my stuff reinstalled :D . Which is nice because I’ve got things to finish up. I just finished reinstalling Phanstasy Star Online Blue Burst with the SCHTHack. I haven’t played it in months but you have to sign in every 90 days so they won’t delete your characters. I signed in tonight and I thought it would be nice to play it again. Hopefully I won’t get addicted to it like I did last time…

*twitch*

Oh, in other news: IGPack v1.1 is in progress! When I released v1.0 to the public I was almost certain that I would be releasing an update within a few days. Which is good actually! I wanted to get as many bugs fixed and maps fun to play as possible before I made an official upload to /idgames to be reviewed for Newstuff. Most of the stuff that’s left to do is bug fixes for various scripts and client-siding stuff…most of which I can’t fix :p . But with any luck, v1.1 will be out very shortly!

Today is my birthday! I’m 22 years old…which is another way of saying “well all the best birthdays are behind you so fun time is over”. Ok, well I’m writing this a 3:40 in the morning and I wasn’t born until later but…who cares! I got some wicked powerful neodymium magnets for my present! I’d get some pictures of them up but at the moment they are curing from the rubber coating I put on them. These things can and will wreck your hands up if your not careful. They are 2″X1″X.5″ yet they can life 75 pounds. I got four of ‘em :D

Time to go eat some cake!
